Our Kairos Moments
Kairos Moments; those moments of opportunity come big and small…….all day long.
I would like that a prior blast of noise came before hand so I could prepare. Prepare for my response to whether it was going to be pleasant or difficult. Something like, “Hey, Denise, there’s a Kairos Moment coming tomorrow at 8:17 am! And it’s going to be incredibly exciting!” Or “Denise, there’s going to be a Kairos Moment tomorrow at 4:20 pm and it’s going to be difficult to get through.”
How could we live if we knew E V E R Y T H I N G that was going to happen? Take a moment and consider that question.
Knowing future events isn’t going to happen. I think God simply wants us to meet up with Him in what suddenly occurs. He is the only one who knows about Kairos Moments.
Now if you want to “know” what time something is going to happen you will use Kronos time. That’s the Greek word where you engage your calendar of choice and schedule the event. You are in full charge of it. You can research the Greek words Kairos and Kronos for expanded definitions if you would like to.
I think it’s so important to understand how God packages a Kairos Moment. They are not always something pleasant that we step into. Nor are they always “a dream come true event.” What we must do is see the moment as an “opportunity and fitting time” that God is in the center of. He is present in ALL things and there for us to call on.
With that being said; someone asked me at a recent book signing event what my biggest Kairos Moment was. I thought for a few seconds and replied, “When I suddenly lost my husband .”
I said, “In the immediate after math of that shocking incident, I knew without a doubt I had to decide what my road was going to be about. My 23 year old son was in the forefront of my mind. My choice was live. I didn’t need to know how I was going to maneuver this unfamiliar road, but I knew that I knew that I knew, I had to. And most importantly, I wanted to.
Romans 13:11-13 — Kairos time is here. It calls for action, conversion and transformation—a change of life. 11 Corinthians 6:1-2 — Kairos is not just crisis but opportunity and favour. God assists us in discerning the kairos—a moment of grace.
