What’s In a Day

What does a day consist of? The more-than-enough 24 hours a day leads to a week, then months and then years. It seems simple enough to say. And you might be thinking, yeah, so? I might ask it a different way. What have you accomplished in your day, your week or your year(s)? That resonates differently doesn't it?

I admit I've wasted good size segments of my life. I lacked focus and quite honestly thought I had all the time in the world. When I was 22, sure life seemed never ending. I had an "I'll-do-it-later syndrome."  How about you? Then I was 32, 42; and so on. The point is what has my time consisted of?

For the most part I've learned a lot through my mistakes and procrastination. So as life would have it; trial and error was a "natural" teacher for me. Once I learned I needed Christ in my life, I learned and acted in a more purposeful way. There's still trial and error, but it doesn't hinder or strand me in any given situation. I move on quicker.  I especially like 1 Corinthians 8:9. It says; "But take care that this liberty of yours does not somehow become a stumbling block to the weak."  I'd be interested to know what this scripture means to you from your experiences.

Tragedy and joy have been an ebb and flow throughout my life. I have never met anyone who has only tragedy or only joy in their life. First comes one then the other, eventually. Just like when the tide rolls out to sea it always returns to shore. It washes away things and brings new things. Change is good as long as there's progress. And change should likely be made up of a refreshing perspective.

Chapter 17 of my book "Kairos Moments" is titled "No Such Thing as Buying More Time." This chapter speaks about managing the time we have. It's wishful thinking to imagine a store where we could literally purchase more of such a valuable commodity.

You have 24 hours in your day tomorrow. Make it a good and productive day. Observe and listen because undoubtedly there's something that needs your attention.
