Prayers Around Me

Several posts back I talked about God speaking the word Emmaus to me while I was walking in the park. I actually attended a beautiful event; The Walk to Emmaus. I will recap in journal form.

I was walking along a beautiful mountain path one morning. I suddenly hear the word Emmaus. That’s it. Simply “Emmaus.”

I came home that day and began intensely studying The Road to Emmaus in Luke 24.

I shared this with my pastor, Kevin Wallace at Redemption to the Nations Church. He asked me if I had ever been on “The Walk to Emmaus?” I said, No. I had no idea what that was other than the story in the Bible.

So, I went home and began looking that up. It’s a 3 day event for women and men on separate dates and it sounded amazing and refreshing. I thought it would be inspirational for me. You need to have a sponsor though. There are two retreats per year. Numerous people begin praying months prior for God to bring forward the 24 who will attend. They begin praying before they even know the names of people who are coming. I gave the hope of going to God. I said, if you want me to go you will have to make it happen. Then I went back to my studies.

About 3 days later, I get a call from a friend of mine. We hadn’t spoken at any length for several weeks and she wanted to know how I was doing. I mentioned what had taken place in the park and the word Emmaus being spoken to my heart.

She gasped. I said what is it? She said go ahead and finish what you were saying. So I did and then asked her what she wanted to say? She said “I am sponsoring you to go to “The Walk to Emmaus!” And you are going in less than two weeks!

I said are you kidding me!?!? We were both astonished at what a wonderful God we serve.

Several days before I was to leave I texted her and said I’m getting ready and so excited. She then told me something else that happened. When she sent in my application, the retreat was full and I was going to have to wait until Spring 2019.

Instead of calling me and telling me this sad news she prayed instead and said “God I know Denise is supposed to attend and I know you will make it happen.” Within 4 days there was a cancellation!

The Lord met me there and communed with me in quiet time, prayer, activities and people. This is such an amazing time and all the people who serve are all volunteers with engaged hearts.

My Emmaus Walk was at the top of Lookout Mountain and the best description I can give you is that it was heavenly.

Blessings,

Denise
