Your bridge to the New Year-Complete!
Year 2019 is the past and you’ve just stepped into the year 2020!
It was not with one single and giant step! It took many and I’m sure you remember them well.
Personal bridges connect your yesterdays to the future. They give you the opportunity to investigate what’s ahead. The old saying, “Don’t burn your bridges (behind you)” imparts a lot of wisdom.
As we venture on we don’t know any outcome exactly. We can’t know unless we build step upon step to see if it’s the best way. I believe if we build haphazardly it causes our bridge to collapse or “burn.” So instead, we connect our bridges on a dot-to-dot system; a little each day.
I looked at pictures of amazing and beautiful bridges before I chose the one with the little girl balancing her walk upon logs with someone cheering her on; undoubtedly saying come on you can do it! The bridge she’s on looks like many I’ve build while on a camping trip for exploration. As we placed logs together we often reused them to build the next portion of our trail. Then we were able to reuse them if we needed to return on that same path.
What I see in that, is how we are to use our past circumstances to move us forward. We don’t leave our past totally behind us because God does not waste any of our past. Not one bit of it. But I believe he wants us to use portions to build our next bridge to the next place. Does that make sense to you? The bridges become more solid in foundation. They don’t fall apart because they’ve been built well and we may arrive at the place where we are going to be planted for a season. We will in fact establish something good if we explore and discover the best way.
As you reflect on 2019, who has helped you along the way? Perhaps, a friend, a pastor, a mom, a dad, a family member or even a stranger. Have you found a place in your heart to remember them. God uses many ways and people to help us embrace the life we are building.
